After a highly competitive process, the Citizen Diplomacy Fellowship has managed to select the first cohort of 10 fellows that will engage at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora for the next six months. Over 173 applications have been submitted with applicants from 28 different countries spanning 4 continents.

We are proud to introduce the Citizen Diplomacy Fellows who are very eager to start this journey toward enhancing the image of Kosova globally.

Argona
Kajtazi

Argona Kajtazi is a graduate of the University of St. Gallen (HSG), Switzerland, with a deep interest in advocacy and diplomacy. She studied International Affairs, and went on to receive her Master’s degree in International Law as well as a second studies degree in Law. She has conducted extensive research on Kosovo and the Balkan region. She has also participated in different settings aiming at refining advocacy skills such as the National Model United Nations in New York. Additionally, Argona has been a co-founder of various Albanian university student-led associations aiming at facilitating the transfer of know-how as well as enhancing intercultural exchange between students. Through the Citizen Diplomacy Fellowship, Argona aims to gain unique insights into initiatives strengthening the civic exchange between Kosova and its Diaspora.

Daorsa
Ibrahimaj

Daorsa is a master’s graduate from KU Leuven in the field of International Politics. During her studies she specialized in diplomacy and peace and conflict research, and developed a keen interest in the relationship between foreign and domestic policy in Kosovo. Recently, she concluded her thesis which focused on the Brussels dialogue, and how the latter has affected internal affairs of Kosovo, such as minority rights and local governance. From Croatia to the United States, she has had the good fortune to live in many countries throughout her life, but Kosovo has always remained her home. She is looking forward to contributing in a more direct way in her country and gaining a deeper understanding of the political circumstances of Kosovo through the Citizen Diplomacy Fellowship.

Fjolla
Hajzeraj

Fjolla Hajzeraj is a graduate of University of Geneva with a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations and a Master’s degree in European Studies, with a specialization in European Union Law. She was born in Prishtina and then moved to Montreux, Switzerland with her parents due to the war in Kosova. Fjolla has been part of international seminars with organizations such as the United Nations, Red Cross, Geneva Center for Security Policy, and the 6th Istanbul Mediation Conference. She graduated in 2020 with a prize of excellence. Her thesis was on the applicability of Human Rights Law to UN peacekeeping operations in Kosova. She was an intern at the General Consulate of Kosova in Geneva, is one of the founding members of the association CréAction in Geneva, and is currently engaged in a project for coordination and communication in the Âge et Migration Program, within EPER in Lausanne. She has joined the Citizen Diplomacy fellowship to apply her experiences in order to improve Kosova’s international standing.

Bardha
Bunjaku

Bardha Bunjaku is a recent graduate of the University of Antwerp, Belgium with a Bachelor’s degree of Law and is currently obtaining a Masters of Diplomacy and International Relations. She was born and raised in Antwerp, Belgium. Bardha was brought up multilingual, speaking Albanian with her family while mastering Dutch, English and French language in school. Her close connection to Kosova is mostly shown in her willingness to contribute to its development. In the beginning of this year, she started a project to sell Kosovar production of raw materials in Belgium to contribute to Kosova’s economy. She has joined the Citizen Diplomacy fellowship to contribute to Kosova’s image internationally. Bardha always strives to include her home country of Kosova in every step of her career.

Argtim
Ibishi

Argtim Ibishi is a recent graduate of the London School of Economics (LSE) in International Relations. He was born in London and was raised in a household that highly valued education, and maintained its cultural roots in a foreign land. Due to this background, his pursuit of education remained strongly tied to his love for Kosova, despite never having lived there. Argtim has also written an important article on the regional security situation for Kosova, published in a highly regarded student-run international affairs magazine, London Globalist, entitled “Reviving Milosevic: Serbia’s democratic slide”. Additionally, Argtim has also volunteered at the Kosova embassy in London alongside his studies. He is very keen to showcase his skills and contribute in any way he can, taking full advantage of the Citizen Diplomacy Fellowship Programme to contribute to the international standing of Kosova .

Liburn
Mustafa

Liburn Mustafa was born in Presheva, Serbia. He completed his studies in Political Science and Public Administration at the University of Pristina, Master’s studies in Political Theories at the University of Tirana, as well as doctoral studies at the University of Southeast Europe in Tetovo. Until now, he was engaged in many social activities such as librarianship, teaching, administration, management, educational and awareness-raising activities with civil society and others. He is also used to dealing with the publication of opinions and scientific works mainly from the social and political fields. Aware of the importance of image in the modern world, social and cultural communication, he has shown a great interest in the Citizen Diplomacy program, through which he will contribute positively to the image of Kosovar institutions and society.

Megi
Beqiri

Megi Beqiri is a graduate of McGill University with a Distinction in Economics and a Double Minor in Management and International Development. She is a first-generation immigrant and Albanian-Canadian member of the diaspora. Megi has a business background, with experience at PricewaterhouseCoopers and Ernst & Young in board and executive-level strategic advisory in the private and public sectors. She has worked with international political institutions, including the Council of Europe researching the relationship between economic policy and access to justice for women in 5 Eastern European countries. Megi speaks 4 languages, and is a travel enthusiast – having visited over 25 countries. While in Kosova as part of her travels, she documented first-hand personal accounts of both youth and elderly to understand the social and political challenges that Kosova’s economy faces. As a Citizen Diplomacy Fellow, she plans to share her unique perspective in order to improve the position of Kosova globally.

Endrit
Sadriu

Endrit is from Prishtina where he finished primary and secondary school. He graduated at the Technical University of Graz (TU Graz) in Graz, Austria with a Bachelor’s degree in Software Development and Business Management. At his first job, he was an intern at the company Infineon AG, and later he taught at the TU Graz as a tutor. He has also worked as a software developer at Virtual Vehicle GmbH and Robert Bosch AG. Currently, he is pursuing his Master’s studies in Software Engineering and Internet Computing at the Technical University of Vienna. He is an activist and member of the council of the Albanian student association in Vienna, Societas Albania, which aims to inform and connect Albanian students in Vienna. Endrit aims to apply his experience and perspective from the engineering realm to contribute to the goals of CDF, as well as to get familiar with the MFA’s infrastructure and initiatives for diaspora.

Taulant
Elshani

Taulant received his Bachelor’s degree in political science in the University of Prishtina and is currently pursuing Master’s studies in political science in the University of Vienna. He received training in data science at Johns Hopkins University in Maryland, USA. He has worked in various local and international organizations and companies, mainly as a consultant in the field of efficiency for public companies in the hydropower and renewable energy sector. Recently, he is engaged in international companies as an expert in advanced statistical analysis. Taulant is a passionate reader, with special emphasis on history, social sciences and international politics. He is constantly following world trends in economy, politics, emerging technologies and art. Taulant is determined to contribute to various projects within the framework of the Citizen Diplomacy Fellowship.

Gashi

Argjira Gashi was born and raised in London, England and has a strong connection to Kosova through the teachings of her parents and her visits to Prishtina. She graduated from the University of Westminster with a degree in Politics and International Relations, awarded with honors. Her areas of study are Geopolitics, International Development and Global Security with particular interest in Foreign Policy and Diplomacy as well as Security Studies. Her interests are reflected in key pieces of her writing for the discourse analysis surrounding the War on Terror and policy analysis of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and humanitarian crisis in Yemen. Argjira is committed to this opportunity given by the MFAD to build her experience and contribute to a successful Kosova in the international political arena.

In order to apply, you need to go to this link, fill out the application form, and submit the additional documents that are required.

Be a member of the diaspora or of the Republic of Kosova, currently living outside the Republic of Kosova. Applicants must have at least two years of professional experience, supported by references, and motivation letters.

Yes, each fellow receives a stipend to cover their expenses while living in Kosova.
The fellows will be selected by the selection committee, consisting of academics,  representatives from MFAD, and members of civil society from Kosova and abroad/diaspora.

If you pass the first phase of the application process, you will be invited for an online interview, which  will be conducted virtually through the online platform Zoom.

There are no GPA requirements to submit the application form, only a university degree and at least two years professional experience.

It is required that the applicant be fluent in English. Preference will be given to applicants who are also fluent in other languages such as German, French, Spanish, Italian, etc.

The fellows, upon commencement, will work on multiple outputs, with a focus on research and project deployment, in line with the objectives of the fellowship, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, and other line Ministries.

Yes, based on the scale of the project that you will focus on, and based on the profiles of the fellows, there will be team based projects where each fellow will have a specific role to it.
